Basement Studio in Edmonton is looking for 1-2 renters this fall

Are you looking for affordable studio space in Edmonton?

The Basement Studio is looking for 1-2 artist renters to join this fall. We are located in the basement of the Blue Quill Community League in Edmonton, and we share a bright, open 1,200 square foot space with 5-6 artists each year.

The move in date is Oct. 1, 2024.

Renters get 24/7 access with your own key. There is free parking, bike racks and a 10-min walk from Century Park Station. The rent is split evenly between tenant artists, usually around $200 per month.

There are sinks and bathrooms on the main floor.

Unfortunately, the space is only accessible via stairs.

The Blue Quill Community League is located at 11304 25 Ave NW, Edmonton AB.

If you're interested, please email megan.klak@gmail.com for more information and to see the space.

Improv 100:  Anxiety, stage un/fright,  un/freeze un/fight

Do you have a burning desire to perform but have a bad case of the heebie jeebies? Grindstone Theatre Schools Improv 100 is the perfect opportunity for those with a case of stage fright. It is the chance to be unapologetically yourself on stage, in a safe and welcoming environment, where we are all just trying to unfreeze ourselves.

Today's hustle culture can make the thought of failure terrifying. Sometimes we step back and close up, rather than face that fear. Improv gives you the opportunity to take a deep breath, look around, and jump in feet first with confidence. Anxiety, stage fright, and a fear of failure can hold us back from being our true and authentic selves. This class will help you build a sense of self-confidence, step outside of your comfort zone, and use some core improv techniques to find your awesome and unique voice.

Shumka's Ukrainka

The world premiere of Shumka's UKRAINKA: The Four Faces of Lesya Ukrainka celebrates the renowned Ukrainian artist, storyteller, poet, and humanitarian.

Lesya Ukrainka led a troubled life suffering from medical ailments that limited her physically, she lived vicariously through her art. She is a legend among the Ukrainian diaspora, and as a woman, is especially inspiring in a patriarchal culture.

Shumka’s newest production focuses on the “four faces” of Lesya Ukrainka – the dreamer, the traditionalist, the lover, and the leader. Her hope for Ukraine’s independence in a series of troubled times is as poignant as ever today.
