Alberta Old Buildings With Augmented Reality Experiences

Aeris Osborne, the 2022 Alberta Artist-in-Residence will exhibit the Alberta Old Buildings With Augmented Reality Experiences in the City Of Red Deer's Viewpoint Gallery from July 5 to August 30, the opening night and artist talk on July 5 (Fri) from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Discover Alberta Old Buildings paintings series with AR created by Edmonton visual artist, the 2022 Alberta Artist-in-Residence/ Art Ambassador Aeris Osborne in the City Of Red Deer's Viewpoint Gallery. All 20 pieces of artwork combined Arts, heritage, and technology.

Since early 2022, Aeris traveled over 3600km to research and meet up with the 10 Alberta Old Buildings’ owners, directors, curators, staff, and volunteers. Indeed, it allows her to better understand each building’s existing structure, history, and story to enrich the creation.

Therefore, famous buildings included the Red Deer Cronquist House, Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, Calgary Lougheed House, Edmonton’s Alberta Government House, Jasper Information Centre, Lake Agnes Tea Houses, other museums, a railway station other heritage sites.

In spring 2023, Aeris accommodated a technology Augmented Reality (AR) into her 20 pieces of artwork, ultimately unveiling her creative process video & research photos by simply scanning with the free downloadable app – Artivive.

Jasper 1924-2024, Celebrating the works of Harris and Jackson

In 1924 Lauren Harris and AY Jackson traveled to Jasper to paint the Canadian Rocky Mountain landscape.

For 2024 we will revisit the sites they made famous through their artwork with Author & Historian Lisa Christensen, the perfect thing to do for Culture Days!!

Want to work toward your first comedy album? In this workshop, we cover the basics: 

  • Choosing and refining material 
  • Prepping a set with track splits in mind
  • Identifying your goals and setting yourself up for success 

We’ll also cover the dos and don’ts of approaching a comedy label. (Hint: it takes more than a hastily written DM.) 
Prerequisites: Stand-up 101, or equivalent experience on stage (you’ve been performing consistently for at least a year and producers hire you for booked shows)

Focus on the core skills of improvisation to hone your ability in initiating scenes effectively, editing with precision, and committing fully to characters.

Delve into the foundational elements of improvisation focusing on three key areas: initiating scenes, editing scenes, and maintaining commitment to character and scene reality. Concrete Poetry Workshop with Alex Turgeon

Join artist Alex Turgeon for this special hands-on concrete poetry workshop. Visual, phonetic, and kinetic, concrete poetry emphasizes non linguistic elements such as typeface and word placement. Using Letraset style transfer letters, attendees will experiment with analog materials to create their own concrete poems. 

This workshop is $10 to attend or free for Gallery members.

Space is limited so we encourage you to register in advance.

To register, please email hkehoe@saag.ca. You can pay for your spot ahead of time at the desk or on the day of the workshop. 

This program is recommended for participants ages 15+.
